A federal high court sitting in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital has nullified the candidature of the All Progressives Congress, APC, standard-bearer, Peremobowei Ebebi in the forthcoming Bayelsa West Senatorial election.
The court presided over by Justice Jane Inyang, upheld prayers for disqualification filed by one Richman Ebipade, on grounds of inconsistency in academic qualifications presented and failure to satisfy statutory provisions during the conduct of the primaries which produced the APC candidate.

Reacting to the outcome of the judgment to journalists after the ruling was delivered by Justice Jane Inyang of the Yenagoa federal high court, counsel to the plaintiff Aguaba Rueben described the verdict as well considered, based on the merit of the case.
Meanwhile the APC has vowed to challenge the ruling at the appellate court, describing the setback against their candidate as a distraction which will have no bearing on whoever will represent the Bayelsa West Senatorial District in Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber.
