The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi has suspended Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC pending the determination of the substantive suit.
The court ruled on an interlocutory application filed by Mustapha Salihu and 5 others seeking to stop Oshiomhole from parading himself as the APC national chairman.
Adams Oshiomhole was suspended by the Edo state chapter of the APC for perceived anti-party activities.
Oshiomhole’s suspension came after party chairmen of the 18 Local Government Areas in Edo state passed a vote of no confidence on him.
On this grounds, the plaintiff and 5 others sought the court to declare that by virtue of the resolution of the executive committee of the APC ward 10, Etsako west local government area of Edo state Oshiomhole should not continue to hold the office of the national chairman of the party having been validly suspended as a member of the party.
The plaintiffs also sought for an order of perpetual injunction restraining Oshiomhole from continuing to parade himself as the national chairman of the APC and from continuing to perform the role of national chairman of the party.
Justice Danlami Senchi who granted the application of the plaintiffs gave the ruling after listening to the argument of both counsels to the parties.
Justice Danlami asked Oshiomhole to desist from parading himself as the national party chairman of the APC.
The judge also ordered the APC not to grant Adams Oshiomhole access to the secretariat pending the determination of the substantive suit.
The matter has been adjourned to the 7th and 8th of March for hearing.
