A Federal high court in Abuja has fixed November 16, 2020 for hearing in a suit which alleges perjury on the part of the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The All Progressive’s Congress, APC, instituted the suit before the recent governorship election in Edo state.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed fixed the date after the suit was mentioned on Wednesday, the APC is asking the court to declare that Obaseki’s claim that he has a degree from the University of Ibadan in 1979 is false.

Counsel to the APC, Akin Olujimi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria told the court that the matter was for mention but the case was ripe for hearing.
Counsel to Governor Obaseki, Ken Mozia however informed the court that he had filed motion challenging the competence of the case.
The judge however reminded the parties that the suit was filed on July 14 and being a pre-election matter,it has a life span of 180 days which will terminate in January 2021.
The case is to be heard for three days on the 16, 17 and 18 November.
