To ensure that testing for Covid-19 gets to various communities in Cross River State, The Government has announced the decentralization of the taskforce response team for the Eighteen Local Council Areas.
The State Chairman of COVID-19 Taskforce and Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu made the announcement when he met with the Eighteen local government Chairmen in Calabar, Wednesday.
Edu said the strategy becomes necessary to give room for proper Coordination at the community level, as testing for Covid-19 continue to gather momentum especially in some hard to reach areas.
The Covid-19 Taskforce Chairman said health workers at the local government level have been trained on Covid-19 rapid response, sensitization, sample collection, sample transportation, point of entry protection and contact tracing.

On her part, the Commissioner For Local Government Affairs, Stella Odey, assured that her Ministry will supervise the enforcement of the Covid-19 response at the local government level.
The Meeting which had in attendance,all the 18 local Government Chairmen also discussed Covid-19 issues affecting council areas.
