Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and wife Dame Edith Okowa including other government officials were given jabs of the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at government house Asaba paving way for the mass vaccination of its citizen.
Aside the governor, wife and members of the state executive council, others vaccinated against the COVID-19 include speaker of the state house of assembly Sheriff Oborevwori, president of the customary court of appeal Justice Patience Elumeze, aids and security operatives attached to the governor.
Governor Okowa after vaccination called on Deltans to disregard information being peddled by the social media handlers adding that the World Health Organisation, WHO, NAFDAC, and other bodies have adjudged the vaccine to be safe.

The governor further explained that each ward will have a designated center for the vaccination while arrangements have been made to take care of any possible reaction.
The commissioner for health Mordi Ononye had earlier organised the official flag off of the COVID-19 vaccine at Asaba specialist hospital where himself and frontline health workers were vaccinated.
Earlier at the official roll out of the covid-19 vaccination at the Asaba specialist hospital, the commissioner for health, Dr. Mordi Ononye, thanked health workers who had worked tirelessly to ensure that Deltans were protected.
