The Nigerian Senate has directed the Inspector-Gener of Police, Mohammad Adamu, and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to fully enforce presidential order on curfew and ban on non-essential interstate travels.
The Senate reached this resolution on Tuesday following a motion by Senator Ike Ekweremadu drawing attention to the flagrant breach of the presidential directive.
Ekweremadu expressed concern over alleged complicity in the breach by security operatives.
The upper legislative chamber called on the security chiefs to investigate the alleged complicity of their officers in the breach of the curfew and interstate travel ban.

The Senate further called on the IGP and his counterpart in NSCDC to ensure that their Commands work closely with state authorities in enforcing the presidential order.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, however, appealed to Nigerians to comply with the curfew and travel ban to prevent community spread.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Nigeria currently inches closely to the 5,000, with over 150 deaths prompting immediate action from the Senate.
