A mobile court in Kano State has sentenced 3 truck drivers for breaching the lockdown order imposed to check the spread of Coronavirus pandemic In the State.
The drivers are to pay a fine of N10,000 each. Meanwhile, the court also sentenced several other persons to community service and the payment of various amounts of money as fine.
The court found the truck drivers, Musa Hussein, Abubakar Muhammad and Sale Gashua guilty of breaching the Kano State Public Health Law 2019 and the State Quarantine Act.
A commercial tricycle driver, Abbas Garba gets a lesser sentence of N4,000 which he said he could not afford to pay at the moment.
While security agents continue to make arrests, the court refused excuses given by some passengers for leaving their houses while not on essential services. They were made to pay various fines.
