Crisis seems to be brewing between the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC and the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency, NEMSA over who controls infrastructure standards in the industry.
A document sent to the eleven distribution companies and National Assembly by the regulator NERC states with reservations directives given by NEMSA banning the use of 33kv primary feeder lines for distribution and point load in the distribution sub-sector.

NERC in a document sighted by AIT says it is the only approved regulator for the power industry and warns the distribution companies to adhere to NERC Regulations or be sanctioned.
