The leadership crisis rocking the Abia State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, is far from being resolved, as the sacked Chairman Uchenna Obigwe, claimed he was still in charge.
The National Executive Council of the NLC, had in a letter dated 17th February 2021 and signed by its General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, removed Obigwe from office.
The embattled Obigwe was promptly replaced by the Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Eze Idima.

The national leadership of the workers union insists that the removal of Obigwe from office followed due process, as it was based on the recommendations of the Election Petition Committee.
But, Obigwe argued that he has a court order restraining Idima from taking over the office.
Obigwe therefore urged the Ayuba Waba – led NLC, to refrain from what he described as “sowing seed of discord” in the Abia state chapter of NLC.
Efforts by ait.live to get the reaction of Eze Idima before this report, was however rebuffed by him. .
