No fewer than a hundred cultists of different groups from Orimekpang community of Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State have renounced their membership.
The effort was part of Police-community Relations Peace And Unity Engagement, in collaboration with the Catholic Church in the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Cross River State, Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the development, attributed it to efforts of the community partnership, between the police, the church, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders.
Ugbo said, the Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande has been visiting the various communities to preach the IGP Adamu Vision on Community Policing Strategy to the youths.
A Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Emmanuel Ukwa, while admonishing the former cultists, urged them to embrace peace, for development to thrive in the Local Government Area.
Father Emmanuel advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used and dumped by politicians, for their selfish interests.
