One thousand five hundred teachers with fake certificates have been sacked in Cross River State in the last eight years.
Chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Stephen Odey, said this in Calabar while giving an account of his board’s eight-year stewardship.

Odey said some of the affected teachers who went back to school and returned with authentic certificates are waiting for the Governor’s approval for reinstatement.
He said no education system can survive if being driven by quack teachers.
Odey appealed to his successor not to compromise on getting quality teachers with genuine certificates into the state’s primary and secondary schools.
