Cross River State, Governor,Professor Ben Ayade says the internal concerns within the state Judiciary has ended with the swearing in of Justice Akon Bassey Ikpeme as the substantive chief judge of Cross River State.
Ayade who charged the new head of the state Judiciary to put the past behind her and build the state third arms of government that will be an enviable of all, said Ikpeme was choosen by God and not Human.
Twice rejected by the State House of Assembly for being a security threat ,Justice Akon Bassey Ikpeme was on Monday sworn-in by Cross River Governor Ben Ayade at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Calabar as the Chief Judge of the state.
Speaking shortly after she was sworn in, Governor Ben Ayade,Ayade described the 62year old Chief Judge as the right person for the top judiciary job in Cross River State at this time.
The new Chief Judge,Justice Akon Ikpeme, in her remarks said she will operate an open-door policy, breaking of new grounds to develop Cross River State in collaboration with other arms of the Government.
President of the Nigerian Bar Association,NBA, Olumide Akpata,while commending Governor Ayade for upholding the tenets of democracy, said the association will continue to be the watch dog of the judiciary.
