Less than 24 hours before the 7-day ultimatum given to the Cross River State Government by organised labour, Governor Ben Ayade has agreed to pay the new N30,000 National Minimum Wage.
This followed the agreement signed between organised labour and the State Government on the implementation of the N30,000 new National Minimum Wage and the consequential adjustments Wednesday night.

Confirming the development in a statement sent to journalists, Chairman Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, Julius Nkoji said the payment will however take effect from the 1st of March, 2020.
According to Nkoji other issues contained in the agreement, including the implementation of outstanding promotions and the return to payroll of the deactivated names have been considered.
