Cross River State is set to conduct local government election this Saturday amidst Coronavirus pandemic in the Country.
The election earlier scheduled for March 28, 2020, was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 disease that took Nigeria and the world by storm.
Announcing its readiness to conduct the poll on Saturday, May 30, 2020, Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC, Dr. Mike Ushie, said preparations are in top gear and in total compliance with COVID-19 elections guidelines recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Ushie said about 8, 000 personnel have been deployed across the state for the Saturday’s rescheduled local government elections in Cross River to ensure the smooth conduct of the poll.

The CROSIEC Chairman said the Commission has also complied with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, protocol for the conduct of the election, saying the security agencies have been duly informed and ready to work with the Commission.
