The Nigeria Customs Service in Katsina State has seized contraband goods worth 33 million Naira duty paid value.
This was disclosed by the State Area Controller, Adewale Aremu.
He said that among the seizures, was a petrol tanker loaded with over 200 bags of rice.
The Customs Area Controller, said that, the tanker, intercepted in Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state, is suspected to be specially constructed for the concealment and smuggling of rice.
He however warned that any erring citizen, who tries to test the capability of the Nigeria Customs is bound to fail, as the officers and men of the agency, are well trained and experienced enough, to uncover any attempt to sabotage the nation’s security and economy.

On whether there is any collaboration between his command and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, to curtail the use of petrol tankers to perpetrate criminal acts, Aremu said, the synergy exists, but is currently ineffective.
