Former President of the Nigeria Powerlifting Federation, Queen Uboh has confirmed the death of Nigeria’s powerlifting gold medalist at the 2016 paralympic games in rio, Ndidi Nwosu.
Details about Nwosu’s demise which occured on march 1 in Owerri following complications arising from a lung infection has remained sketchy until the confirmation by queen-uboh in a telephone interview with ait from her base in Canada.
Nwosu won gold at the 2018 commonwealth games, where she also sustained an injury, which affected her spine.
She set a new record at the 2016 paralympics in rio de janeiro after she lifted 140kg in the 73kg women’s class.
She is survived by her husband and children.
