Private hospitals in Delta State have been banned from admitting and treating patients that exhibit signs associated with Coronavirus.

They are to rather report any such case to the phone numbers provided by the committee managing and containing the pandemic in the state.

The order was handed down by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in his statewide broadcast to confirm the first coronavirus case in the state.

The governor also said an extension of the lockdown in the state would depend on the advice of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC and other stakeholders managing the coronavirus pandemic.

Okowa said Delta State is already prepared for a time like this having established and equipped 4 coronavirus centers in the state and at the same time trained healthcare personnel deployed to the facilities.

He further re-emphasised the importance of constant hand washing, social distancing, sanitising hands and most importantly to avoid touching one’s mouth, nose and eye including handshake.
