The Delta state government has deployed every available arsenal to reach out and assuage those whose homes and other personal effects including farms were submerged by flood in the state.
The multifaceted approach embarked upon by the state which involves ministries and Parastatal including the office of the wife of the governor, mobilised every available resources to various Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, Camps located across the state with food stuff and provisions.
Dame Edith and her team visited IDP camp with 1,435 Displaced persons in Asaba the state capita, Oleh Primary school with 142 IDP’S including, Kwale and Ozoro.

She presented each of the camps tubers of yams, bags of rice, gallons of groundnut and palm oil, bags of garri, beans and other items including words of encouragement.
In the midst of the disaster, Commissioner for environment and his team were busy opening up major canals in the state for free flow of the flood water.
Some of the areas that received attention include Camp 54 Anwai where flood washed away thousands of fish ponds and emptied them into the River Niger
As at the time of this report, other major canals in Sapele and Ughelli were being opened up by the team while other areas he said would receive similar attention.
The state Orientation Bureau on a daily basis gives information on happenings in the camps.
