Nigeria’s house of representatives on Thursday invited the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu over cost of conducting a direct mode of primary in the political parties.
This followed a matter of urgent public importance on the need for Nigerians to understand the cost implications of having direct primaries for possible consideration in the 2022 appropriation bill.
The lawmakers say the benefits of having direct primaries far outweighs the cost implications, not minding the rumors of the huge figures been peddled around.

The INEC boss is to interface with the house committees on INEC and appropriations before the appropriation bill is passed in about two weeks time.
