A pregnant mother of three Hauwa Shagari, has had her hand cut off by her husband after a misunderstanding.
The culprit who is a police officer, has been arrested and is being detained at the police headquarters pending completion of investigations.
Trouble started when Ibrahim Shagari demanded from his wife five thousand naira he gave her for safekeeping, but when she could only provide 3 thousand naira, Ibrahim resorted to violence by attacking her with a dagger.

The Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs, the office of the special adviser to the Plateau State Governor on gender affairs and FIDA Plateau state branch have assured that the case will be followed to discourage gender-based violence which is on the rise.
As the public awaits an official statement from the police, Ibrahim Shagari remains in custody while Hauwa is gradually recovering at the plateau specialist hospital.
