The Ebonyi State Government has urged the general public, to disregard a video in circulation on some social media platforms, implying that some Fulani Herdsmen residents in the state, were being attacked and chased out of the State by a faceless group.
Commissioner for Justice, Cletus Ofoke, who spoke at an emergency meeting of the Ebonyi State Committee on Herdsmen and Farmers Relationship, in Abakaliki, described the video as misleading and distorted, with the aim of embarrassing the state. The two minutes, forty-six seconds long video had emerged on social media on the second of January, 2021.
In the video, a man’s voice could be heard in the background, claiming that the abode of these Fulani people in Ichaba Community in Ebonyi Local Government Area, of Ebonyi State, is being destroyed, and the occupants chased away because they were no longer needed in the State.
The need to set the record straight and ensure that the public is well guided, informed of the convening of the emergency meeting, at the instant of the state government.

Meanwhile, Governor, Dave Umahi has asked the security agencies in the state to begin a full-scale investigation into the purported video, with a view to arresting those behind the fake publication for possible prosecution.
