The Ecological Fund Office has officially handed over the erosion and flood control project at Oguduasa in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State to its contractor.
The project is one of the 20 ecological intervention projects approved by the Federal government for the first quarter of 2020 awarded by the Ecological Fund Office Tender Board.
In an address during the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, represented by Clinton Igwe said the project was initiated through a request for an urgent intervention forwarded to the Ecological Fund Office to arrest the continuous soil erosion and flooding menace in the area.

Speaking during the occasion, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said the site was included in the federal budget in 2007 and expressed happiness that the President has approved it in 2019.
The chairman, Isuikwuato Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Ogbonnaya Uwadiegwu among speakers at the event thanked the federal government for erosion control project noting that the people of the area have suffered hardship as a result of erosion.
