Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed optimism that Nigeria will remain one united and indissoluble nation irrespective of the challenges she is currently going through.
The Governor said this when he received the National Sports Festival Torch of Unity in Government House, Benin City.
The much awaited 20th National Sports Festival has begun in Benin City after several postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic and paucity of funds.
Activities have started in earnest as the camp for the games opened on April 2 and will run through to the 14th.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development represented by the Secretary of the Main Organising Committee for the Sports Festival, Peter Nelson handed over the torch to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Governor Obaseki is happy that the festival is taking off after a really difficult year brought about by the pandemic.
He says the games will be a unifying force for Nigerians irrespective of the current challenges.

The Torch which symbolises unity, peace, friendship, tolerance and hope was handed over to the Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu for onward movement to the 18 Local Government Areas in the State
