Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has charged the State Vigilante Security Network on the need to play by the rules and shun politicisation of the its operations so that the purpose for which it was established is not defeated.
This charge was given during a meeting at the Government House, Benin City, between the State Government, members of the State Community Vigilante Security Network and heads of the different security agencies, with 15 operational vehicles handed over to them.
The Edo State Government says it is determined to ensure that the issue of insecurity in the state is tackled headlong.
Governor Godwin Obaseki insists that security is local and as such efforts should be channeled towards adequate protection of lives and properties by empowering the state vigilante.
He called on them to avoid politicisation of the local security structure.

Coordinator of the Network, Haruna Yusuf says the local security system has recorded significant success since it was inaugurated. He gave a rundown on the makeup of the state vigilante teams and the areas they cover.
The Governor thereafter handed over the 15 operational vehicles to them for enhanced service delivery.
