Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced the intention of his administration to launch a one billion naira fund for the enhancement of widows in the State.
The Governor made this announcement at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration which held at the New Festival Hall of Government house, Benin City.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated yearly to commemorate the progress women have made in the quest to better their lives and a reminder that more needs to be done.

Governor Godwin Obaseki thumbs up the women on the tremendous contributions they have made in the growth and development of the country in general and the state in particular.
He also lauded their effort in the management of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Wife of the Governor, Betty Obaseki called for active participation of women in active politics.
The theme for the 2021 edition in Edo State is addressing the vulnerabilities of women in the COVID-19 era: towards achieving a more gender-equal and inclusive society.
There was also a launch of Edo Women for Agriculture and Enterprise- EWAEN phase 3.
