The Edo State Government says drastic measures will now be taken to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 disease in the State given the rapid rate of transmission in communities.
Governor Godwin Obaseki made this declaration when the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, inaugurated the main building of the repurposed Stella Obasanjo Hospital and a polymerase chain reaction, PCR, machine at the Edo Specialist Hospital, in Benin City, the state capital.
The Minister was in Benin City to unveil the 300-bed Stella Obasanjo Hospital repurposed as a treatment centre.
He also inaugurated some COVID-19 related facilities at the Edo Specialist Hospital.

Ehanire notes that the State has done remarkably well in its sustained fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Obaseki says his administration will continue to do its best to protect the people from the disease as it takes drastic steps to stem the tide as there is evidence of community transmission.
