Delta State Government has prevailed on the newly recruited 1050 teachers and education officers to work towards providing quality service delivery to the benefit of the state especially the children.

Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chiedu Ebie, who made the call while declaring open a two-day induction programme organised by the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for the recruited teachers and education officers in Asaba, the state capital, said the essence of the induction ceremony was to ensure that the cycle of excellence was completed despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Ebie said the education officers will obtain the mandatory two to five years of field experience before reverting to their post in the Ministry.

He stressed that training will bring the best out of the teachers and the children who he said need the right foundation in their quest to become future leaders.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Patrick Ukah, earlier in his address, explained that Governor Okowa’s desire to develop the capacity of teachers in the state has led to the establishment of the teacher’s professional development centre.

Ukah urged the inductees to see their employment as an opportunity to contribute to building mentally and morally balanced children.

Some of the inductees expressed their commitment to contribute to the state government’s disposition to child education.

The two-day induction training for the teachers and education officers is being organized simultaneously in four centres in Asaba and Warri.
