Electricity consumers in port Harcourt have kicked against the recent hike in electricity tariff approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
Those who spoke to ait.live say the increment in electricity tariff is a pointer to the fact that the federal government was insensitive to the plight of the people and urged for a reversal of the decision.
They described the recent hike in electricity tariff from #2 to #4 per kilowatt as announced by the National Electricity Regulatory Commission,NERC, as harsh on the part of the federal government, especially when other countries were cushioning the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on their citizens.

Though the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, says the hike in electricity tariff was as a result of the fourteen point nine percent inflation rate rise in November 2020 in the country, consumers want the federal government to rescind the decision so as not to worsen the economic hardships being faced by Nigerians.
