The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has confirmed that its facilities in Benin and Oko in Benin City were attacked by suspected #EndSARS protesters on Monday, setting free inmates legally interned by courts of competent jurisdiction in Edo State.
In a statement by the service Public Relations officer Augustine Njoku, the exact number of escapees and casualties are yet to be confirmed.
Njoku said the details will be communicated after preliminary investigations.
He however enjoined members of the public to go about their businesses in a peaceful manner, resist and shun attempts of being used to destabilize the peace in the State.
The Service also urged all Nigerians with useful information that will lead to the recapture of fleeing inmates to report to any nearest Custodial Centres, Police Sation or any other security agency.
