ENDSARS protest hit the streets of Lagos on Monday with the protesters pelting Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with bottles, sachet water, and other objects even as the Governor tried to appease them.
Attempt by the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu to address the protesters was initially resisted by the youths who demanded to hear from the President.
The Governor eventually addressed them; promising to take their message to the president.
No impressed by the Governor’s statement, the protesters turned their anger at him; hurling stones and bottles on him.
The protest caused gridlock on Lekki road for several hours even after the announcement by the Inspector General of police that the Special Anti Robbery Squad, a unit of the Nigeria Police Force has been disbanded.
For many, the announcement by the IG does not address the issues of harassment, intimidation, extortion and extra judicial killings by the operatives.
They demand an executive order from Mr. President desolving SARS and the prosecution of police officers found culpable.
