Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a 17-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry to investigate human rights abuses and police brutality under the recently disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, in the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed charged the committee to ensure that Justice is done to everyone.
Bauchi State has joined the presidential directives that the states across the country should constitute a committee to investigate police brutality under the disbanded SARS and to provide contributions on how to reposition the Nigerian police.
Governor Mohammed enjoined members of the panel under the chairmanship of a retired High Court Judge, Habibu Idris, to use their wealth of experience and knowledge in the discharge of their assignment.
The Committee’s Chairman thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and assured of their readiness to do justice to everyone, irrespective of their background.

The Committee members comprise of civil society organization, religious, and cultural groups among others. They are to submit their report in six months.
