Residents of Oruku community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State South-East Nigeria are calling on the state and the Federal Government to intervene in the recent crisis in the area that led to the destruction of property worth millions of Naira by unknown persons.
According to some residents who narrated their experiences, the sudden destructions of property worth millions of naira by unknown gunmen who set many houses ablaze is a shock as there was no misunderstanding between any groups in the community
When ait.live visited the deserted community, some helpless community members especially women and children were seen wondering what will be their fate as their property have been burnt down

Although there was no report of any killing but reports alleged that many residents may have been wounded during the shooting.
Meanwhile the new state commissioner of police CP Mohammed Aliyu who visited the area to assess the extent of damage has promised to restore peace in the community.
Last year, the igwe of the community late Emmanuel Mba was killed by unknown persons which led to the setting up of judicial commission of inquiry by the state government to investigate the remote cause of the killing
