The European Union, EU has condemned the killing of five aid workers by Boko Haram.
In a statement by the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič,, the bloc expressed its condolences with the families, friends and colleagues of the five victims.
The statement added that The EU will continue to appeal for the adherence to international humanitarian laws and the safeguard of human rights, as conflict is not an excuse to breach these rules and target humanitarian workers and civilians.

The EU says the insecurity in the Northeast Nigeria is severely impacting the civilian population and hindering the capacity to provide humanitarian aid.
