Electricity consumers who are yet to be metered will now pay higher prices for the device.
According to a document signed by the Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, James Momoh, with effect from 1st of June, single-phase metre which was about N36,000 will be soldat N44,000 while the 3-phase metre will go for N82,000 instead of N67,000.

The Commission attributes the increase to recent changes in foreign exchange approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. The Commission also approved the commencement of the second round of MAP procurement with additional guidelines.
