The Federal Government says protecting the country’s critical oil and gas assets will remain a top priority of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
Defence Minister, Major-General Bashir Magashi (Rtd) who made this known while on a one-day inspection visit to military formations in Warri in Delta State emphasised that the country cannot afford to lose billions of naira to crude oil theives and vandals. This has led to huge investments in the new Deep Blue Maritime Security Project that is expected to take off soon across waterways in the oil rich region.
The delegation inspected military ships and gun boats used for sea surveillance patrol.

The Minister was accompanied by his Transportation counterpart Rotimi Ameachi, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ibass, some top government officials and senior military personnel.
