Four fake fertilizer blending plants in Kano have been sealed by the Federal Ministry Of Agriculture And Rural Development.
The task force of the ministry during the inspection of major fertilizer markets in the state also found government-procured raw materials for fertiliser blending being sold in the open market.
The task force from the Federal Ministry Of Agriculture And Rural Development is led by the Quality Control Officer at the ministry, Oke Samson.
Their visit to Kano is to rid the market of adulterated fertilizers.The inspection team were in Kumbotso, Dawakin Kudu, Gwarzo and Fagge Local Government Areas, where they discovered fake fertilizer blending plants, operating without due authorization.

Such plants were shut down.
The task force team also found the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative Raw Materials being sold in the open market.
Defaulters found in possession of the blending raw materials will face appropriate sanctions of the law, upon completion of the investigation.
Some of the defaulters claimed ignorance of any existing law banning the sale of fertilizer raw materials in the open market.
The National Fertilizer Quality Control Act 2019 and Regulations 2020, mandate individuals in the fertilizer business to register with the Farm Inputs Support Department, and possess the requisite facilities to operate in the sector.
