A total of 42,000 Internally Displaced Persons from seven communities of Batsari Local Government area of Katsina State are to be included as beneficiaries of the 500 housing unit scheme of the Federal Government.
Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, Senator Bashir Garba, who stated this during the official flag-off of the distribution of some relief materials to the recent victims of bandit attacks in two villages of Batsari lga, said the essence is to assist and reintegrate them into the society.

Addressing the victims from Tsauwa and Dankar villages and five other communities, Garba said the gesture is to assist and give them sense of belonging.
Garba, while commiserating with the people over the unfortunate attack, noted that the Federal Government is doing all things possible to ensure their security and welfare.
Earlier, the Federal Commissioner was at the Katsina State Government House where his team paid a courtesy visit on Governor Aminu Masari informing him on the plan to resettle about 2.4 million IDPs in the country.

He stated that states states of Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Cross River will benefit from the planned construction of 500 housing units.
Responding, Masari urged the agency to take the culture of the people into consideration while planning the housing scheme so as not to displace them in an effort to resettle the victims.
Items distributed to the victims include two trailer loads of rice, beans, millets, maize, and other non-food items.
