Traders at the popular Ogbogono Market in Asaba, the Delta State capital lost goods worth millions of naira to early morning fire that engulfed the tailoring materials and Phone accessories Sections of the market.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who visited the scene for on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the level of destruction sympathized with the affected traders and ordered for full scale investigation and proper documentation to ensure that the victims are assisted to go back to their businesses.

As at 10am when ait.live visited the market, the fire service officials were already on ground and have succeeded in curtailing the spread of the inferno from engulfing the entire market. Sympathizers were also seen using every available means trying to help to salvage the situation.
The cause of the inferno is not yet known but a spark from faulty electrical wire is not ruled out as the unplanned nature of the shops contributed to the spread of the fire.
Meanwhile, the affected traders who are mostly tailoring material dealers have started counting their losses.
