The plight of flood victims living in the Ahoada West local government area of Rivers State which occurs annually is pathetic due to the negative effects on the people.
A visit to some of the communities shows that the residents have abandoned their homes for safer grounds, as their farmlands have also been destroyed.
Some of the flood victims want the state and federal governments to come to their aid. They blame the flood disasters on the overflow of Orashi River and request for the construction of shoreline protection.
