The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has concluded its state congress in Abia State with the election of the former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Asiforo Okere as the Chairman.
Announcing the results of the congress election, the Chairman of the PDP Congress Committee for Abia State, Kenneth Okon described the exercise as peaceful.
The Governor who observed that the Congress was credible noted that the Party is in a mourning mood, as it recently lost 3 members including the immediate past Chairman, late Johnson Onuigbo.
Governor Ikpeazu said that PDP is the only hope for Nigerians and charged the newly elected members to work towards the success of the Party in all future elections.
For the delegates, the smooth conduct of the Congress is a clear testimony of internal democracy within the Party.
The PDP National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu stressed the need for peaceful running of the party by the new executives and urged them to take the party to the next level.
