Free soap and face masks are being given to entice people in Kano State, North-West Nigeria to come for sample collection to test for Covid-19 and this is yielding tremendous results.
The State Task Force on Covid-19 is carrying out community testing at every local government to ascertain the status of residents.
At Karkasara Ward in Tarauni Local Government Area, the turnout is low when compared to the population size of the area. Many are reluctant to come for sample collection at the residence of the Ward Head but the free soap and face masks attract many women and children.
A resident, Abdul Zango said the initiative is good but public awareness on the imperative of testing is critical. The Ward Head, Mallam Yahya sets leadership by example presenting himself for the test.
