The Federal Government has been advised to Strenghten the implementation of all existing laws on protection of citizens’ fundamental human rights especially women who mostly suffer from various forms of violence globally.
This was the key message delivered by Women Activists in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State as Nigeria Joins other nations around the world to Commence a 16-day activism against gender- based violence in Commemoration of this Year’s International day for the eradication of Violence against Women.

The dehumanising testimonies of women brutality and other forms of assault against women is gaining ground in most parts of the Country and it is in this light that Some Women in Bayelsa are demanding the effective implementation of existing laws to address offenders of Violence against Women
Following the level of under-reported cases of violence against women and the Girl Child due to stigma associated with the act, Women are advised to speak up so that an inclusive approach can be adopted to deal with the root causes of the social malady .
