The Kano State House of Assembly has received a new bill establishing four new emirates in the state from Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, on Monday, announced receipt of the bill transmitted from the executive and said the House will begin the first reading of the bill on its next adjourned date.
A state High Court had voided the appointment of the four Emirs and deposition amendment law passed and signed into law in May 2019, which gives legitimacy to the appointment of four new Emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye.
A statement released by the State Information Commissioner, Muhammad Garba, said the bill is amended in public interest following the court nullification.
Meanwhile, the four Emirs remain in office with government recognising them as first-class traditional rulers.
