The Task Force on COVID-19 in Gombe State has shutdown a section of the Government House that serves as Office of the Secretary to the State Government following the death of a Director who was infected with COVID-19.
The Office is to be decontaminated within the period of the shutdown while contact tracing of all individuals that had interacted with the deceased is underway. The unfortunate development has again re-enforced the reality of the existence of COVID-19 in the State with the virus coming close to the Government House.
The Task Force says there are high fears of community spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the State as it admits that one of its member has also died due to complications from the virus bringing the death toll to 7.
The Government therefore says there is urgent need for prevention and strict adherence to safety measures.
