The University Of Port Harcourt Class 1981 Graduates known as the Unique 81 have conferred the award of Global Citizen of the Year on Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Award was presented to the Otuoke born politician during the grand finale of a three day reunion of the pioneer graduates of the prestigious University of Port Harcourt in Yenagoa Bayelsa State at the weekend.

Two lectures were held on the final day of the University of Port Harcourt class 1981 reunion programme; the first presented by Professor Lydia Abia-Bassey on Pause Syndrome while Professor Emeritus Joe Alagoa highlighted the history of the University of Port Harcourt and the impacts their products are making in the society.
The three days reunion programme came to a climax with a gala night where former Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan and another alumni member, Stanley Lawson were honoured with awards of excellence.
Other alumni of the institution including the Vice Chancellor of the Niger Delta University, Amassoma Professor Samuel Edoumiekumoh spoke on the gains of the reunion.
The University of Port Harcourt class of 1981 expressed gratitude; singing songs of praise for good health, successes and hope for a prosperous future.
