Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has approved Jan. 26 and Jan. 27 as work-free days in the state to enable civil and public servants to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, ahead of the January 29 Deadline.
The Work free days approval came amidst concerns by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over poor collections of PVCs in the State.
The Work free day directive was contained in a statement issued and signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Eric Anderson.

It said the work-free days became necessary to enable residents of the state to participate fully in the 2023 general election scheduled for Feb. 25 and March 11.
According to the governor, The Statement encouraged civil and public servants in the State to take advantage of the work-free days to get their PVCs as part of their constitutional responsibility.
INEC had commenced ward-to-ward advocacy on PVC Collection in all the one hundred and ninety-six wards of the State.
