Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has set up an implementation committee for the start of academic activities and full operation of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Osara, Kogi State.
The move followed the November 10, 2020, approval by the National Universities Commission, NUC, for the establishment of the specialized university.
In a bid to commence academic activities in the 2021/2022 calendar year, the Kogi State Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ayoade Folashade Arike, inaugurated an implementation committee.
On the issue of proper funding of the institution, which has become a source of concern in some quarters, the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, said there is no cause for alarm.
Chairman of the Implementation Committee and former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Professor Mohammed Saliu, pledged the committee’s readiness to get the institution running.

When it becomes fully operational, the Confluence University of Science and Technology is expected to provide employment, manpower for science, engineering, and technology as well as human resources needed to harness and manage the numerous mineral deposits scattered in parts of the state.
