The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has banned street trading and ordered the removal of illegal market structures in Yenagoa.
Diri gave the directive at the end of the 34th Executive council Meeting of his administration in Yenagoa.
Jackson Bobra, the Chairman said that It was exactly one year after the demolition exercise was carried out at the popular Swali Ultra Modern Market.
The development then was occasioned by the presence of miscreants and illegal traders in and around the market premises.
But a recent upsurge in clashes between rival cult groups informed the current ban on street trading and the removal of illegal market structures.

Governor Diri, therefore, called for, a synergy among the security agencies, in carrying out 24hrs patrol around the Swali market area, to ensure the protection of life and property.
