Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has justified the need for the three arms of Government in Nigeria to be autonomous to build a strong and vibrant democracy that will be beneficial to the citizens.
The Governor who spoke when he received the state branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, led by its Chairman, Pius Oiwoh, who were in Government House, Benin City to present their demand for financial autonomy for the Judiciary noted that Edo has been implementing the constitution regarding the issue since the inception of his administration.
The leadership of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, is lending support to the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, in its agitation for financial autonomy by mandating branches to visit state governments over its actualization.
The Benin Branch of the NBA is here to meet with Governor Godwin Obaseki to dialogue on the way forward and he says the state under his watch has been following the rules as enshrined in the 1999 constitution.

Chairman, Edo NBA, Pius Oiwoh notes that discussions with the executive arm of government was fruitful and will continue for the benefit of the judicial workers.
President Buhari had signed an executive order granting financial autonomy to the two arms of government- Legislature and Judiciary across the thirty six states in May 2020.
