The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, in Ikpoba Hill axis of the state capital, Benin City.
Omozuwa, was a 100-level student of the Department of Microbiology, University of Benin.
She was allegely raped and her head smashed with a fire extinguisher in the premises of pentecostal church in Benin.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said Governor Obaseki has asked for a thorough investigation into the killing; calling on the Police to fish out the culprits.
He said the state government will ensure the law run its course; stressing that that the Violence Against Persons law and other such laws related to rape and sexual abuse will be activated to secure justice for the deceased.
